Eli Cortiñas (1979, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain) studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany and the European Film College, Denmark. Cortiñas has been a guest professor at the Art academy Mainz and the Art Academy in Kassel. She has been awarded several grants and residencies such as German Academy Villa Massimo, Karl Schmidt-Rottluft, Goethe Institute, Kunstfonds and Berlin Senate among others. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at museums such as Museum Ludwig, Schirn Kunsthalle, Berlinische Galerie, Kunsthalle Budapest, Centre Georges Pompidou, Museum Marta Herford, Museum of Modern Art Moscow, La Virreina Center of the Image, DA2, Kunstraum Innsbruck, Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno and MUSAC. Her video work has been featured in international festivals and biennials such as Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Mardin Biennale, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Les Rencontres Internationales, International Curtas Vila Do Conde and Nashville Film Festival. Cortiñas lives and works in Berlin and is currently the recipient of the Villa Straeuli Residency in Winterthur, Switzerland.
